Saturdays before heading into “The ‘Shoe,” it’s Skull Session time. One of Ohio State’s oldest and richest traditions, the Skull Session—aka the pre-game practice of “The Best Damn Band in the Land”—was implemented in 1932 by director Eugene J. Weigel, who wanted to ensure his band had mastered the week’s music. Once the practice was opened to the public, the tradition grew so popular they started selling tickets!

In 1957, the Skull Session moved from the band’s rehearsal hall to the new St. John Arena, and became first-come-first-serve for St. John’s 10,000+ seats. Director Paul Droste was responsible for transforming the session feel into its current hyped-up atmosphere, and in 2001 Jim Tressel added to the tradition by having the football team attend and help rally the crowd. Use these body measurements as a guide to select the size that's right for you. Our crewnecks are designed with a relaxed fit and tend to run slightly large. If you are at the lower end of a size range, expect a more oversized feel, in the middle the fit will be relaxed, and at the top end it may feel closer but still easy to wear.

How to Measure

• Chest Measurement: Measure around the fullest part of the chest area and keep tape level under your arms and across your back.
• Waist Size: Measure your natural waistline by placing the tape around the narrowest part of your torso, typically just above your belly button.
• Garment Length: For accurate garment length, measure from the top of your shoulder down to where you want the hem to fall.
• Sleeve Measurement: Start at the center of the back of your neck, run the tape across your shoulder, and down to your wrist with arm straight for a full sleeve measurement.
